FAST FACTS ABOUT THE SCHOOL

  • Our school is located on the Main Street in Celbridge Co. Kildare, directly in the centre of the village.

  • The school has just under 250 pupils,17 teachers (including a full time EAL Teacher), 3 Special Needs Assistants, a school secretary and a caretaker.

  • Our school was originally founded by the Holy Faith Sisters. Up until 1979 boys and girls attended the school (the boys until they reached 1st class). In 1979 we became a single sex all -girls school.  September 2023 brought a change when boys joined our Junior Infant class and our status changed to co-ed at infant level.

  • The school comprises 16 classrooms in two school buildings, a General Purpose Hall, a Computer Room and an Accelerated Reader Library. We have a number of smaller rooms which are used for resource and learning support classes. In 2010 a new Reception Area, offices and Resource room were added. We were honoured to have President McAleese visit the school to mark the completion of this project.

  • We have invested a large amount of resources to improve our I.C.T. facilities. Each classroom teacher has a teaching laptop and there is an interactive whiteboard in each classroom and resource room. In some room we are moving to Smartscreens. Our computer room has 16 networked pcs and was newly refurbished before Christmas.

  • The Principal is Ms Delia O’Donnell and the Deputy-Principal is Ms. Breeda Meleady

  • The school caters for Junior Infants up to Sixth Class, at present we have 10 classes in the school.

  • We have four green flags. The first three for recycling, energy saving and water conservation were achieved in previous years and we have just been awarded the fourth green flag for work in the area of transport.

  • Our school motto is ‘Ní neart go cur le chéile’ (together we are stronger / there is strength in unity).

  • The school crest consists of our motto; dancing shoes and music notes to represent our tradition of Irish dancing and music, a book and pen for knowledge and learning, The Holy Faith Sisters emblem to reflect our foundation and history and shaking hands to represent the many nationalities and cultures now part of our school community.

  • Our school crest was designed by the children in the school.
